Bhatar is located at 23.42^° N 87.90^°   E23.42 : 87.90. It has an average elevation of 37 metres (121 feet). It is located in the laterite plains between Damodar River and Ajoy River. Khari or Khargeswari River flows through the area, providing scope for supply of sand from places such as karjona. It is believed that the river was earlier linked with Damodar. The Orgram area is forested. The area has facilities for canal irrigation.
